Indiana Paranormal Convention « Result #3 on Apr 28, 2009, 8:30pm »
Hey Everyone!
Just wanted to share the news about IndyParaCon!
We're all about community this year as we're bringing together the entire paranormal community. From TV shows like Paranormal State we have Ryan Buell, Chip Coffey, and Chad Calek to Ghost Hunters we have Kristyn Gartland representing. Even John Zaffis the godfather of the paranormal will be in attendance. MUFON Indiana will be there for the UFO hunters and we're open to Big Foot Hunters, Wiccans, American Indians, and anyone else who believes in the supernatural and paranormal to join us for three action-packed days.
It's going to be a great event and we hope to spread the word about being community-minded and bringing the field together rather than seeing it pulled apart by differences.
can people be haunted? « Result #4 on Aug 3, 2008, 4:45am »
In every home that I've ever lived in I see the same entity. I call it a thing because it's not quite human. In actuality it looks like a short monster. If I can't see it then I feel it quite literally. I remember one house in particular where I had things thrown at me and in one instance I was too afraid to move but you could see finger prints pressing down on me. I could have moved if I had the courage but that scarred the mess out of me. Please let me know if it is possible for a person to be haunted and not just their place of residence.

Re: Sound Level Meters « Result #9 on May 3, 2008, 12:11am »
That's an old post.
I used to have an analog db meter, but I really think you would want a digital meter for an application such as investigating the paranormal simply for the fact of the read out showing the exact db level(providing it is calibrated properly). You can get one for about $45 at Radio Shack.

Strange Indiana « Result #16 on Jan 20, 2008, 1:54am »
Hello everyone,
I feel strange for posting this, but I can't find an answer to these strange things that have occurred to me.
First of all I should say that I have seen some very strange things in my life. I have definately had my fair share of paranormal experiences. Only one of my experiences was shared with another person and I'm glad. I was beginning to think I was crazy. I only ever shared my experiences with my family. I am about to write about two strange experiences that I've had. Maybe someone out there can shed some light on these things. I swear that everything I'm writing is the truth.
My first experience happened about 5 or 6 years ago. I was living with my grandmother in Kokomo. I was in the bathroom when she called out to me excitedly. I rushed to her on the enclosed front porch thinking she was in trouble. I looked at her and couldn't see anything wrong and then she looked at me and pointed out the window. "What is that?" She asked. I looked out the window and could not believe my eyes. It was a flying triangle with a glowing sphere in the middle and glowing lights at each point. I say point but in actuality the points were blunted. It moved across the sky quickly and was maybe 1000 feet above the house at the most. It made no noise. We both looked at each other in astonishment. I had previously seen ufo's but no one had ever been with me when I did. And I had never seen one that close and in daylight. I guess I should add that I think it was sometime in the winter maybe January or February at dusk. There was enough daylight left that I could clearly see the craft and could tell that it was not a normal airplane. I haven't heard any reports of that happening anywhere and was wondering if me and my granny were the only ones.
The second experience I would like to tell about happened about 2 years ago I think. I can't remember the time of year, but I think it may have been early spring. I was driving home to Bloomington from a friends house in Crawfordsville. I always take 231 S. I generally always left late at night and usually the only thing I would see at that time would be drunks and deer, both of which I was always on the lookout for. I remember I had just gotten to Cloverdale and had just passed I-70. All of the restaurants and businesses in the area were closed and the area in general was pretty much deserted. All of a sudden I saw something moving on the side of the road. In an instant a giant dog-like creature jumped onto the road. I was terrified because it was running straight at my car. I had my brights on and I had a pretty good look at it. It was greyish black with a long head and snout, pointed ears that were pointing back towards its tail, large canine teeth and scariest of all, glowing red eyes. The beast didn't run like a dog, it sort of lumbered like a bear and I could see its large muscles rippling in my headlights. I was so terrified of this creature that I decided my best bet was to go straight at it and try to kill it with my car. At the last possible moment the beast swerved and went around me. I immediately looked up in my rear view mirror and from the abient highway lights I could see the creature continuing to run down the road. Now I can't figure out if I saw a chupacabra, a werewolf, or just some strange mutant dog. If anyone out there has seen or heard about this thing or the ufo in Kokomo please contact me. These two things have been had me puzzled for a while now.

One of my pet peeves with paranormal investigation is that investigators tend to focus on locations where there have been tragedies or violent deaths. While these locations do tend to result in measurable activity, there are places just as active where life was good, and apparently the other side is just as good.
One of my favorite experiences was during a trip to Scotland. There are literally hundreds of places rich in potential paranormal activity, many having to do with the aforementioned tragedy and violence. I visited many of those sites and had many adventures.
One such adventure was much quieter and less disturbing. My family and I were staying at a wonderful bed and breakfast in Edinburgh. The house was nearly 300 years old, and very large. It had once belonged to an elite merchant family in a section of town called New Town. The room my husband and I stayed in was beautiful. While I'm not certain of the exact use of the room, I did get some hints.
The first night we were there, I spent some time refreshing myself at a recessed vanity that was built into the wall. I read for a bit. I finally decided to take a nap. When I turned from the vanity, I saw a young man and woman standing by the entrance of the room. They were gently touching each other's face, kissing, and smiling, not saying a word. Their clothing was obviously from another century. I watched (tempted to get my equipment out, but afraid to interrupt the scene) for at least five minutes before they disappeared. They seemed so happy with each other and pleased to have a moment alone.
I never did get their story. The owners of the bed and breakfast were adamant about not discussing any possible spirits in the house. While many, many places in Scotland are pleased to share stories of hauntings, many others do not wish to be associated with the concept. There is a lot of superstition and fear. While it is great for tourism, it doesn't sit well with the neighbors.
